2020 Kevin J. McKenna Memorial Scholarship Awarded!

The world is heavy right now. So much is going on, it’s hard to find words. Now is a good time to share some Good. Some GREAT, actually. Last week was supposed to be Scholarship Night for the graduating class of 2020 at Woburn Memorial High School. A special night, like so many others, that these kids missed out on. Our family is blessed each year to present Kevin’s Scholarship and award $10,000 to a hardworking student, talk about Kev, and share in something really special once the recipient is announced and walks up to the stage. We were determined to come up with a Plan B. It’s definitely not the same, but here it is - The 2020 Kevin J. McKenna Memorial Scholarship Award Ceremony.

As I mentioned, the world is heavy - now more than ever, we need to do more. So I am beyond proud to announce that this year there are TWO winners - $10,000 EACH!

Congratulations to John Kyle and David Langlois- these two young men impressed us with their sincerity, honesty, dedication to athletics and above all else, family. They will be going to UMass Amherst for Marketing and Merrimack College for Computer Science, respectively, and we wish them all the best wishes you can wish. Also, I kind of told them they were chosen for final interviews so they wouldn’t know they won...watch it all unfold!

GIGANTIC thanks to all of you who donate in every fashion to the tourney, this doesn’t happen without you (more to come on that - stay tuned!)

Share this out and let’s spread some dang Great around...these two deserve it! (And so does Kev!)

xoxo,

Kell

5th Annual Kevin J. McKenna Memorial Scholarship Awarded

Woburn Memorial High School Scholarship night - May 29, 2019

We are honored to announce the recipient of this year’s Scholarship: Mr. Casey Ivester. I would say I’m at a loss for words, but you can hear all 6+ minutes worth of them if you check out this video, courtesy of the Woburn Public Media Center at WMHS. (Special thanks to Brian Ouellette for sharing). I’m surprised I didn’t get the ole music from the Academy but I will say this:

  1. I will take all the minutes I can get, I would be up there for hours if I could - to talk about my brother

  2. Casey is a remarkable kid -acknowledging him (as well as WMHS) is important. What these students are doing, and the goals that the high school are helping them to achieve as well as the opportunity given to us as Scholarship families, needs to be recognized

  3. WE ARE ABLE TO DO ALL OF THIS FOR KEVIN, BECAUSE OF ALL OF YOU.

  4. Let’s be honest: this little Star loves to get her hands on a mic :)

Congratulations again to Casey and we wish him all the best at Stonehill in the fall!

Sign up for this year’s Tourney today!

xoxo,
Kell
